Olivia the pig sings, runs, tries on every piece of clothes she has when dressing up, and builds a giant sand castle at the beach, just to name a few. Ian Falconer captures the busy life of a preschooler with a humorous touch. "Olivia" is a good book to read with children in preschool and kindergarten.

Simple black-and-white illustrations capture the kitten's actions and emotions very well. The texts are easy to read and include repetitive catching phrases like "Poor Kitten" that will grab young readers' attention. Kitten's First Full Moon is a good children's picture book for toddlers and preschoolers.
