- "Corduroy", by Don Freeman, is a classic children's book about a stuffed bear going around a store in search of a lost button. A little girl finds Corduroy in the toy department of a store and falls in love with him. However, the girl's mother says she has spent her money and they leave without buying him. After an adventurous night around the store, Corduroy is happy to see the girl return to buy him with her own piggy bank money. Corduroy finally has a home and a friend. With a memorable character and great illustrations, "Corduroy" is one of the best picture books of the 20th century. Older toddlers, preschoolers and beginning readers will enjoy this imaginative and endearing story.
